Information

As a possible member of the VSHA or as a member, you are provided with an outline of information for each discipline. As well as a general guideline of rules we request our members to follow while participating in the events the VSHA holds. Please read over this page and make sure you understand what we require of you as a member.

General Guidelines

  1. All participants of the VSHA must be a member of Volte, horses must be registered with the Equine Database as well as the VSHA.
  2. Horses must be at least 3 years old to participate in undersaddle classes.
  3. Your horse or pony will increase in the levels as s/he increases in levels in Volte.
  4. It is to your discretion how many events your horse/pony competes in. However, do not violate the Volte guidelines for showing.
  5. All members of the VSHA are to follow the saying 'Treat others as you wish to be treated'. Any misconduct, rude behavior or immature behavior will be reported to Volte's staff upon notification of the situation.

    Owner who wish to enter year end and mid-year awards must submt thier horse's records for consideration.

Hunter Guidelines

  1. Small ponies will not exceed 12.2hh; Medium ponies are from 12.3hh to 13.2hh; Large ponies from 13.3hh to 14.2hh.
  2. Small Junior Hunters (horses) are 14.3hh to 15.3hh; Large Junior Hunters (horses) are 16hh +
  3. Small Pony riders below 13y/o; Medium Pony riders below 15 y/o; Large Pony riders below 18 y/o; Junior riders below 18 y/o; Amateurs are 18 or older that do not recieve an income for training or lessons. Professionals are 18+ that earn money for lessons/training.
  4. Horses that compete in Hunter events may not participate in Jumpers in the same show.

Jumper Guidelines

  1. There are no age limits per level. But we suggest you follow the reccomended age levels in the Volte Library.
  2. Recognized levels:
    Level
    Level 1
    Level 2
    Level 3
    Level 4
    Level 5
    Level 6
    Level 7
    Level 8
    Grand Prix
  3. All levels consit of two rounds and one jump off. Entrants are permitted to compete in two levels at the most, totaling your 6 classes for the day per horse.
  4. Horses or ponies entered in Jumper classes may not show in Hunter courses the same day.

Dressage Guidelines

  1. There are no age limits per level. But we suggest you follow the reccomended age levels in the Volte Library.
  2. Recognized levels:
    Level
    Introductory
    Training
    First Level
    Second Level
    Third Level
    Fourth Level
    Prix St. Georges
    Intermediare I/II
    Grand Prix
  3. Horses or ponies may enter in other events when competeing in Dressage.

Eventing Guidelines

  1. There are no age limits per level. But we suggest you follow the reccomended age levels in the Volte Library.
  2. Recognized levels:
    Level
    Beginner Novice
    Novice
    Training
    Preliminary
    Intermediate
    Advanced
  3. Horses competeing in Eventing may not compete in any other event on the same day.
  4. All levels consist of 4 rounds, InHand, Dressage, Cross Country and Stadium Jumping.
  5. The VSHA will hold occasional 3 day events where Inhand and Dressage are Day 1, Cross Country day 2, Stadium Jumping Day 3.

Please send a fee of $5,000 to the VHSA account when registered. I know this is a lot but it keeps the show fees down.
